Implants generally involve two stages. First, an artificial root is surgically placed into the jawbone. Following a period of healing, usually three to four months, an artificial tooth, bridge or denture is attached to the implant(s). After an implant has been placed, your gums and bone will continue to grow around it, ensuring that the implant stays firmly in place.
Dr. Lederer will refer you to a certified dental specialist – either an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or a periodontist – for your implant surgery needs. Once the implants have healed or integrated, Dr. Lederer will place your custom-fitted crown, bridge or denture on the implants.
Whether you are missing one or more teeth, contact Dr. Lederer to find out if implants are a good option for you.
